Year 3 took part in a hands-on workshop with a special Stone Age visitor! We tried our hand at archery, crafting weapons and cave painting; we also investigated animal bones and explored a range of artefacts. It was a great way to enhance our learning of this key period of history.

'The Mozartists' visited Whitchurch to share a wonderful music workshop with Year 4, bringing classical music to life! We were captivated by the music, singing and drama exercises, as welll as listening to the musicians perform for us.
Year 2 fieldwork visit to Stanmore

Year 2 went on a fieldwork visit of Stanmore to explore the human features of our local town - including shops, cafes, restaurants, a post office, churches and a dentist. We discussed what each feature is used for and its importance to the community. We also compared Stanmore to a coastal town to understand how places and can be similar or different to each other depending on their location.
Year 4 visit to St Paul's Cathedral

Year 4 had a wonderful visit St Paul's Cathedral, where we learned more about Bethlehem and used role play to bring the Nativity story to life. We explore the stunning interior, including it beautiful mosaics, and discovered how the cathedral was rebuilt after the Great Fire of London. We also visited the Whispering Gallery and climbed even high to the Stone Gallery - a total of 376 steps! It was an exciting and meaningful day which supported our learning in R.E. and History.
Year 6 Forensic Science Workshop

Year 6 children stepped into the shoes of real forensic investigators during an exciting hands-on Science workshop. Working in teams, we explore fingerprint analysis, fibre matching and crime-scene observation to solve a myster using scientific clubes. The workshop encouraged critical thinking, teamwork, and careful attention to detail - skills that all budding scientists need. We were thoroughly engaged and inspired by the world of forensic science!

At Whitchurch we held a wonderful Cultural Creative Day to mark Black History Month. We dressed in the costumes and colours of our focus countries and learnt about their culture, food and music. We also created fantastic flags and factfiles!

Poet Joshua Seigal visits Whitchurch

To celebrate National Poetry Day, we were thrilled to welcome published poet Joshua Seigal to our school! This year’s theme was ‘Play’, and Joshua certainly brought that spirit to life. His performances showed us that poetry is about much more than just reading and writing - it’s also about listening, watching, participating and enjoying!
Joshua shared a wonderful mix of poems, including humorous and nonsense verses, bringing words to life. We loved joining in, laughing along and creating our own playful poems - reminding us how joyful and exciting poetry can be!

This week Year 1 went on a very special autumn walk to explore the changing season using their senses. With coats zipped up and curiosity switched on, we set off to discover the sights, sounds, smells and textures of Autumn!
We spotted colourful leaves in shades of red, orange and yellow, listening carefully to the crunching leaves underfoot and smelling the earthy scent of fallen leaves and damp soil. We felt rough bark, smooth conkers, soft moss and cold breezes on our cheeks. The visit was a fantastic way to bring our science learning to life and we used lots of exciting vocabulary to describe our discoveries. Well done, Year 1 - what amazing explorers you are!
Year 5 visit to Buckingham Palace

Year 5 had a fantastic opportunity to visit Buckingham Palace as part of our English learning. The highlight of the trip was a guided tour of the State Rooms, where we were amazed by the sparkling chandeliers, ornate furniture and the history behind each room, especially the White Drawing Room. We also enjoyed exploring the Picture Gallery, filled with portraits of past monarchs and famous works of art. On the way to the Palace, we walked through St James’s Park and were delighted to spot pelicans, swans and other birds by the lake.
Year 6 visit to the Imperial War Museum

Year 6 visited the Imperial War Museum to learn more about World War Two. We explored different exhibits that showed how the war affected people’s lives, from the Blitz to life on the home front. We saw real artefacts, listened to personal stories, and discovered how soldiers and civilians experienced the war. The trip helped us understand the challenges, bravery and sacrifices of the time, and gave us a deeper appreciation of history beyond what we have studied in class.
Year 4 visit to Woodrow High House

Year 4 spent the day at Woodrow High House in Amersham, taking part in variety of challenges and activities included a scavenger hunt and pioneering to develop our teamwork and problem solving skills!
Year 1 visit to SeaLife London Aquarium

Year 1 visited SeaLife London Aquarium, where we saw a variety of sea life from different parts of the world including the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian oceans. The highlight of the trip was seeing the sting rays swimming gracefully and the large Tiger shark with rows and rows of teeth! It was delightful watching the penguins swim and dive into their mini pool!
Reception visit to Hertfordshire Zoo

Reception visited Hertfordshire Zoo to bring their learning about animals to life. We saw a variety of animals including lions, monkeys, zebras, meerkats and tigers. We especially enjoyed watching the penguins being fed and learning about how different animals live in the wild.
Whitchurch Woodland Opening Ceremony

On Wednesday 9th July, the Mayor of Harrow, Cllr Anjana Patel, came to Whitchurch to officially open our new Woodland Forest School. The event was marked with speeches from the Mayor, the Headteacher and our Head Boy and Head Girl.
The Year 6 Legacy Group, Year 2 forest children, parents, and a representative from our Governing Body also attended to share all of the incredible contributions and projects. The scheme of work is now ready to roll out in September and Mr Coutinho, our Forest Lead, will be running these sessions on a rota for each year group.
It was a wonderful ceremony and we look forward to making excellent use of this fantastic outdoor woodland space for many years to come!
