Music Enrichment

At Whitchurch we offer high quality music enrichment opportunities for our pupils. Our enrichment programmes include whole-class instrumental lessons offered by the Harrow Music Service, including the Year 4 Trumpet and Clarinet programme and the Year 3 Recorder programme.

Singing assemblies and hymn practice are part of our weekly schedule for all year groups.

Extra-curricular opportunities include instrumental tuition with visiting music teachers from Harrow Music Service on piano, guitar, violin, cello, recorder, flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, drum kit, steel pans and Indian instruments. Lessons take place weekly in our two recently refurbished studios which are equipped with a keyboard, digital piano and music boards.

A variety of ensemble opportunities are also available including Junior and Senior Choirs, Orchestra, Guitar Ensemble, Wind Band, Rock Band and Percussion Group. Other more informal groups are often created ahead of concerts. Concerts for ensembles and soloists are organised half termly and take place in our school's hall, which is equipped with a new Kawai grand piano and a new sound system. Our more advanced pupils also participate in the Harrow Music Service Festivals, including the Guitar, Band, String, Recorder and Percussion Music Festival.
