Special Educational Needs and Disability
At Whitchurch we provide an inclusive, broad and balanced curriculum for all children, including those with special educational needs and physical disabilities. We possess a friendly and experienced team of learning support staff, providing dedicated support to children across the school. We also work closely with a number of external agencies such as speech and language therapists, educational psychologists and a school counsellor.
Support is given in a wide variety of ways, tailored to each child’s individual needs. Children may have particular wide-ranging learning needs, which can create barriers to their learning and progress if not met. Our teachers take account of these requirements and make provision, where necessary, to support individuals or groups of children. This enables them to participate effectively in curriculum and assessment activities.
Our SEND provision ensures that curriculum planning and assessment for children with special educational needs takes account of the learning needs of the child.
