On this page we provide some essential information to help you support us in school and also support your child at home. We update the Year 6 page each half term with news about our learning, any changes to our timetable or useful links that might help as we change topics and move forward with our learning. We very much see your child's time in Year 6 as a partnership with parents, so please do email if you have any queries.
Our Summer 2 Timetables
Routines and Expectations
Drop off and Pick up. In the mornings, your child should arrive at the school anytime between 8.40am and 8.55am. They make their own way into the classrooms via the patio doors. Year 6 have Early Morning Work and registration whilst the children make their way into class. Any child arriving after 9am is late. At the end of the day the gates are unlocked at 3.10pm; please come into the playground and collect your children from the classroom patio doors; learning time ends at 3.20pm, doors will open after this time. If your child has permission to walk home alone, they will be released at 3:20pm. Please note, if this is the case, your child should go directly home and not wait in the car park, on the street or anywhere else (for their safety.)
Daily Reading. Reading at home to an adult every day for at least 20-30 minutes is an absolute expectation in Year 6. The children can take it in turns with you or just read aloud, however the skill to develop is reading aloud as reading alone is a different skill. Also, the most important element is that you ask your child questions about what they have read to check their comprehension. Children need to bring their diaries on Monday mornings with evidence of their reading - these should be signed by a parent or adult (not sibling please).
PE days. Remember children come to school wearing their PE kit on their PE days. Year 6's PE days in the Summer Term 2 are:
6SC & 6OL: Tuesday and Friday
6AS & 6TM: Tuesday and Thursday
Homework. Children will have homework every Wednesday (Maths, English and spellings). They will also have Mathletics set every Wednesday and may receive extra revision for SATs. All homework is due in on the following Wednesday.
